Chanice Holmes- Afro Grooves

Afro Grooves is a space to come as you are, connect to your inner beat, and move freely with others, grounded in the rhythms and traditions of the Afro-diaspora. This class blends cardio, play, and cultural embodiment, inviting you to unlock your inner child while honoring the energy of your elders and ancestors.

My Approach: I approach this work as a facilitator, guide, and hype woman—here to cheer you on, lift your energy, and celebrate every move. My goal is to create a space where each person can explore, experiment, and express themselves, connecting to rhythm, community, and joy while feeling fully supported and energized.

Chanice Holmes is a New Orleans–born movement artist and mother who lives in a state of groove. Her practice celebrates rhythm, lineage, and the ways movement returns us to ourselves, one another, and stories we carry. As Program Director at Dancing Grounds, she weaves dance, culture, and community into spaces for joy, healing, liberation, and transformation. A Hollins University graduate, Chanice holds a BFA in Dance and BS in Science. Her performance credits include touring with Solange and Peaches, visuals with Megan Thee Stallion, and performing with Jon Batiste at the Grammy Awards. She moves with rhythm as life.
