About New Orleans

New Orleans is known for its music, food, and deeply rooted cultural traditions. Movement and performance are embedded in daily life here, from social dance practices to contemporary work across the city.

The festival takes place in the downtown area, within close proximity to the Warehouse District, the French Quarter, and the Mississippi Riverfront. This area is highly walkable and surrounded by restaurants, hotels, and cultural spaces.

If you are planning to travel to New Orleans, here are a few things to know:

  • Weather
September is warm and humid, with temperatures in the high 80s°F (30 to 32°C). Light clothing and a small umbrella or rain jacket are recommended.

  • Getting Around
Uber and Lyft are widely available and are often the easiest way to get around. Taxis are also accessible. The New Orleans Streetcar offers a scenic way to travel through the city.

  • Neighborhoods
The festival is centered downtown, near the French Quarter, Marigny, Bywater, and the Garden District.

  • Food and Culture
New Orleans is internationally recognized for its culinary traditions. Food and live music are central to daily life.

  • Planning Your Visit
We recommend leaving time to explore between festival events.

Getting HeRe

  • Airport
New Orleans is accessible through Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), located approximately 20 to 25 minutes from the downtown area.

  • Transportation from the Airport
Uber and Lyft are readily available and are typically the most convenient option. Taxis are also available at designated pickup areas, and rental cars can be arranged on site.
