Sydney Lopez

Sydney Lopez is a dancer and choreographer from Missouri, currently based in New Orleans. As an artist, she investigates dance as language and creates work as a means of projecting voices. Her work, Burning Snow (2024), tells the story of her beautiful grandmother Tuyết Speer. This work investigates generational impact and the heartache of leaving home during wartime. Before moving to New Orleans, Sydney danced with Boundless Contemporary Dance Company while majoring in dance at Missouri State University. She is also invested in researching the ongoing effects of globalization and the homogenization of culture through her academic and artistic endeavors.
